Sacramento Leak Detection
Since 2006, Service Local Sacramento Families
It’s that time again: Your water bill has arrived in the mail. You’re not worried, though, because you always know what to expect. Your family hasn’t increased their water usage and the rates haven’t spiked recently, so no concern is necessary. However, once you open that envelope and look at the number staring back at you, you realize something is off. Way off. The amount you owe is irregularly high. How come? Chances are, if you have a sudden increase in your water bill, that means you have a leak somewhere in your plumbing. As you are surely aware, leaks are very time sensitive issues, so waiting until your bill comes to discover you have one isn’t always the best idea. Besides looking at your bill, how else will you know you have a leak in your home?
Signs You Have a Plumbing Leak
- If you hear running water, even when you know all the water fixtures in your home are turned off
- If you see hot spots on the floor
- If there are cracks in your walls or floors
- If you notice mildew or excessive moisture under the carpets
As soon as you realize you have a leak, it’s vital you call in a Boyd Plumbing and Drain professional as soon as possible because, well, you don’t want to leave leak detection and repair to just anyone. Because many leaks are located underground, or beneath foundations and walls, it can be difficult to detect the source with the naked eye. If proper steps are not taken, finding the leak can be damaging to your home. However, at Boyd Plumbing and Drain, we use exceptional leak detection methods to pinpoint the exact location and cause of the problem so we can determine the best course of action for repair.
Leak Detection Methods
- Ultrasonic technology: Acoustic emission detection, as it is also known, allows us to detect sound loss in your pipes. Escaping liquids create an acoustic signal as they pass through holes in your pipes, so in order for our plumbers to know you have a leak, we have to detect a low frequency acoustic signal. We will then analyze it and determine its severity.
Boyd Plumbing’s Pipe Repair Options
- When we use the slip lining method, we put a smaller pipe within your existing pipe so that water flows more freely – and without any leaks.
- Pipe bursting involves sending a piece of equipment with a head shaped like a cone into your pipes. This equipment tears apart and pushes aside the old plumbing. We then attach new plumbing to the end of the device and pull it through the void, to make your pipes like new.
